happy thought #1

Check this out.

back from the dead

I realize I haven't written in here for many months. Mostly, this is because I feel that a blog post requires that I say something clever, thoughtful, or existential. Unfortunately, I haven't had anything to say along those lines. Hence, the silence. As I was re-thinking my blog this morning, I decided to shift my focus. Rather than trying to be creative and English-major-y, I will use this blog as a place to put out simple, happy thoughts. I will not be clever. And it goes without saying that existentialism will no longer fit the mold.

The hope I have now is that this means I'll always have something to say. If I ever go many more months without posting, however, it most likely will mean I am in the midst of a deep depression, and you should probably bring me cookies. Chocolate chip, preferably.

procrastination

you are what inspires me to write in my blog

you are what keeps me up until midnight even though i have work at 6:45am

you are the reason why i am only half-way done with the huge project that is due at 2:00p.m. tomorrow

you are what keeps me looking for random youtube videos or new songs

you drive me to the fridge to scavenge for cold pizza

you are what finally gets me to get started on my project

you are what drives me to the library, even though i swore that place off last semester

you are the driving force of my life, my muse

i wish you weren't

my happy place

i find my happy place when
(1) i use em dashes or brackets in my writing.
(2) i read.
(3) i sit and think of nothing.
(4) i lowercase everything.
(5) i let myself get hyper.
(6) i realize i'm putting off homework and it doesn't bother me.
(7) i listen to music. loudly.
(8) i laugh.

We had Christmas lunch with my Grandma. Her care center has a duck pond on the grounds, and as my family and I were getting ready to leave, my niece spotted about fifteen ducks waddling around. Her whole face lit up and she shrieked, "Du! Du! Du!" I took her over the ducks and started chasing them with her. She was elated and even gleeful. No matter how long she stared at them, she was still completely fascinated and still kept pointing and saying, "Du! Du! Du!" as if she wanted to make sure I understood how exciting this moment was. I pass by a duck pond everyday on my way to school, but I only realized then that I have been frequently missing out on the extreme joy of chasing ducks.
