You may now address me as Master

That's right. I did it. The MA is in the bag. (Thanks to Ananda for the picture!)

Now, on to the next big thing: holding and playing with these two adorable little girls every day for the next month. I know you're jealous.

California, here I come.

First draft

I just finished and submitted my first draft of my thesis.

Is it an oxymoron to say you've "finished" a draft?

Thesis-ing

In today's all-day, thesis-writing binge, I have

read a lot,
written a little,
eaten probably a pound of chocolate and two bowls of curry,
visited Facebook only a couple of times,
and chugged two* mugs of herbal tea.

Oh, and I showered, got ready, and put on make-up.

Not bad, eh?

*Addendum at 10:25pm: Make that three mugs of herbal tea.

We're live!

This is what I have to show for my summer: new.lds.org

It's not a prospectus, but hey.

One of those days

So, this morning I didn't hear/subconsciously ignored my alarm and woke up naturally at 6:15am. My alarm was set for 5:15am. I usually leave my apartment at 6:20am to walk the approximately ten minutes to the bus stop for the 6:30 bus to Salt Lake. So, waking up at 6:15 was not good.

My first thought was "Dang."

My second was "Five minutes."

In five minutes, I half-showered, threw on clothes, pulled my hair back and covered it with a headband, applied a minimal amount of make-up, and headed out the door--only to realize when I reached the street outside my complex that my toothbrush was still hanging out of my mouth.

But I still caught the 6:30 bus.

I think I'm in love

Hey, folks, here's some pictures of me with my lovely new (used) 2002 Oldsmobile Alero. Don't be too jealous.

After two years of driving a 1994 stick-shift Toyota Corolla that broke down as often as the weather changes in Utah, I have finally moved on. It was a rough break up (break down?) with the Corolla (it practically exploded on me--seriously, red fluids and all--before it retired to the junk yard), but I feel good about this new relationship. I must say, it's nice to be able to drive some place without wondering when/where the engine will suddenly stop.

Any ideas on names for this baby?

Look! I'm famous!

That's right. I've reached the pinnacle of literary achievement: I was published in The Daily Universe. My BYU-centric spoof of Stephenie Meyer's overwrought style won first place in a Stephenie Meyer writing competition. I am the happy winner of a $25 gift certificate to the Olive Garden and two tickets to the opening night of New Moon.

Not only did I get free things, I've got a new career direction: imitating Meyer for a living. I mean, that's where the big bucks are. This gift certificate is only the beginning . . .
